Employees and customers of businesses in unincorporated Monroe County are highly recommended to continue wearing facial coverings in public settings. The City of Key West and other municipalities may have stricter guidelines.

Florida Keys Coronavirus Cases

The latest update from the State Health Office regarding COVID-19. There is one new case today in Tavernier.

Monroe County is reporting 110 total cases -- 99 are residents, 11 are non-residents.

Among the 110, 24 are travel-related, 79 are community-acquired, and 7 are currently being investigated.

Of the 99 residents, 41 are from Key West, 18 Key Largo, 23 Tavernier, 6 Marathon, and two from Islamorada and three from Summerland Key. Cudjoe Key, Sugarloaf, and Key Colony Beach have one case each. There are 3 cases from missing locations.

As of June 4, 2020 at 10 a.m. 3,659 people have been tested, of which 71 are awaiting results.

The Health Department will officially confirm any other cases. Cases are a total count of all laboratory-confirmed cases. This number does not represent the current number of COVID-19 positive persons. At this time, the FDOH is unable to determine the number of recoveries from COVID-19. Those who do recover from the virus may have additional unknown health effects.

Vulnerable Populations

Senior citizens and individuals with an underlying medical condition are still strongly encouraged to stay at home and take all measures to limit the risk of exposure to COVID-19.

Monroe County Emergency Management

Emergency Management continues to monitor the situation in conjunction with the Florida Department of Health and will continue to facilitate conference calls with partner agencies and the municipalities.

  • Monroe County Emergency Management activated its EOC to Level 2 Partial Activation and is meeting regularly since March 17, 2020.
