Key West International Airport ARFF

On June 12, MRFR Aircraft Rescue & Fire Fighting (ARFF) firefighters had the opportunity to perform live fire training with our mutual aid partners NAS Key West Fire Department at the airfield on Boca Chica. This is part of the annual FAA required training for airport firefighters. Participants from MCFR were Captain Richard Cletta, FF Ryan Devitt, and Battalion Chief Mark Thompson. Thanks to Chief Matthew Haskin, CIV NAS Key West for sharing these pictures.

MCFR together with KWIA had a P.A.S.T. (Penetration Aircraft Skin Trainer) fabricated and mounted in the overflow area at KWIA.  This new prop will allow FS 7 crews to practice piercing skills with the piercing nozzle on the end of ARFF 7’s H.R.E.T. (High Reach Extendable Turret).  We’re looking forward to the experience this piece of equipment will afford and would like to thank all who were involved in seeing this project to completion.
