Monroe County is no longer participating in the national residential grant program known as Flood Mitigation Assistance (FMA), which provided funding for flood elevation, demolition and reconstruction, or selling your home. The Monroe County Board of County Commissioners directed staff to discontinue the locally based initiative with FEMA and to support applicants and homeowners in applying to the "Elevate Florida” program.
The Florida Division of Emergency Management (FDEM) has developed a new program called “Elevate Florida,” designed to expedite the entire residential mitigation process, providing a more efficient process for homeowners.
